There is more to a massage than many of us know. Most people go to a massage parlor to help relax how body and mind.  What we do not know is it takes a lot of training and research to become a great massage therapist. Although these therapists use their hands and fingers to do all their work, most of the skill is from the mind. Here are some tips on how to enjoy your massage fully.

Body hydration is highly needed before, and after a massage session begins. The reason why is that, body cells and tissues tend to release many toxins soon after getting a massage.  Pure water helps flush these toxins from body cells, thus enabling your body to take full advantage of the session.  Failing to drink pure water before and after a massage could increase stress levels in the body, and you do not want that to happen. It is also worth noting that, fruit juice is not classified as water.

If you are a therapist, and have a patient who wants a quick massage, it is mandatory to focus on the main areas with the highest concentration of nerves and pressure points, the feet. Research shows that feet contain most of the nerve endings, and carry the entire body weight all day long. Focusing on the feet for at least 15 minutes should help the client feel more relaxed.

Arthritic patients should be handled with care during a massage. These patients suffer from intense pains on their back, joints and bones, hence should be treated with care. Patient who do not find help using medications always find relief after getting a massage. A gentle massage on the aching parts helps increase blood circulation stimulates flexibility and the release of endorphins, all which make one feel much better.

Now that you have learned a few things about a massage, why not put them to the test. Putting these into practice will help you realize what you have been missing, as you will feel rejuvenated and re-energized to take on anything.
